Effective today, Starbucks is raising its hourly pay rate for 30% of its workforce.
According to the company, this is the start of a plan to raise hourly pay rates for its entire workforce to $15/hour without three years. This move comes on the heels of other large employers, such as Target and Walmart, raising hourly pay rates for its workforce earlier this year. Will other large employers follow suit? While nothing is a sure thing, I would expect to see similar stories in the coming months.
